Exploring Bridgton Farmers Market: Local Treasures and Delights

It was an absolutely beautiful weekend in Maine, the kind that makes you fall in love with the state all over again. We had the pleasure of exploring the Bridgton Farmers Market, a true gem nestled on Depot Road. If you’re ever in the area, they’re open from 8 AM to noon from May through October, with a winter market to keep you going through the colder months. This market is everything I love about shopping local—fresh produce, handmade goods, and that wonderful sense of community you only find at places like this.

Now, I have to share some of my absolute favorite finds from the market. Each one of these local vendors brought something unique to the table, and I’m still dreaming about some of their offerings.

First up, VanLeewen Woodworking from Bridgton. This booth was a woodworker’s paradise! They had a fantastic selection of handcrafted bowls, cutting boards, and charcuterie boards that would make any kitchen shine. The craftsmanship was truly impressive, and while I was tempted, I decided to admire from afar this time.

Next, The Wicked Good Cupbahd from Bridgton—I mean, how can you pass by a booth with that kind of name? The man running the booth was so charismatic, you couldn’t help but be drawn in. I couldn’t resist grabbing some of their Award Winning Bah-B-Q sauce. It’s got that perfect blend of tangy and sweet that’s going to make our next cookout a hit. I also sampled their Thai Chili Sauce, though it was a bit too fiery for my taste buds. What really stood out was their no-salt seasoning collection and the fact that they use reclaimed pallets to craft holders for their sauce bottles. Talk about sustainable creativity!

3 Folds Bakery LLC from East Otisfield was my surprise treasure of the day, and here’s the best part—it’s 100% gluten-free! I’m still thinking about the oatmeal cream cookie, pumpkin bread, and banana bread I picked up. Let me tell you, none of it lasted the weekend! Every bite was just pure bliss. There’s something about homemade baked goods that just warms your soul, don’t you think?

At Good Buddy Farm from Hiram, I was mesmerized by the flower arrangements. They had such a delightful variety that I was tempted to bring home an armful. If only Jasper wasn’t so keen on turning every plant into a snack! But I did spend a good amount of time admiring the blooms, imagining how lovely they’d look in our home.

I can’t forget to mention Maine Morning Micro Roasters from Bridgton. Coffee lovers, take note! I picked up the Kezar Fever Wicked Organic Blend, and wow—it made the most amazing cold brew. The beans were freshly roasted that morning, and you can really taste the difference.

For those who appreciate a good piece of pottery, Emma T Pottery from Bridgton is where you need to be. Emma’s talent is undeniable—her mugs, bowls, and more are all beautifully crafted. I especially loved a mug featuring a puffin that I spotted. Though I was tempted, I decided to hold off for now, but it’s definitely on my list for holiday gift! (be sure to check out her website if you can’t make it in person)

Olde Mill Farm from Brownfield had some fantastic finds, too. We grabbed some chicken and rhubarb, and let me tell you, if you haven’t tried rhubarb, you’re missing out! It’s tart, zesty, and just the thing for a summer snack. I’m toying with the idea of making a strawberry rhubarb cobbler this week—assuming I don’t snack on all the rhubarb first!

Lastly, we stopped by A Country Flavor from Waterford to pick up some delicious pickles for my niece’s birthday. They had a great variety, and I just know they’ll be a hit.

This market had everything from fresh fruits and veggies to meats, crafts, and coffee. It’s truly a little slice of heaven for anyone who loves supporting local businesses and enjoying the best that Maine has to offer. And if you’re in the mood to stretch your legs afterward, you’re in luck—right next to the market, there are some lovely walking trails to enjoy.
