My Top 10 Travel Movies to Watch Right Now

Feeling like having a cozy movie night in? Need some travel inspiration? Well, you’ve come to the right place! Here are my absolute favorite travel movies that will take you on an adventure from the comfort of your couch. So go ahead, grab that popcorn, get comfy and enjoy the journey!

Into the Wild – Brace yourself for an adventurous adaptation of a non-fiction book by Jon Krakauer. It recounts the captivating tale of Christopher McCandless, who transformed into the mythical “Alexander Supertramp.” This fella embarked on a thrilling journey, hiking across North America and venturing deep into the Alaskan wilderness back in the 90s. Get ready to be whisked away into nature’s wild embrace! (Spoiler alert, I always tend to like to book better 🙂 )

Stand by Me – A masterpiece for all the Stephen King fans out there. This movie is like a nostalgic journey mixed with laughter and unforgettable lines like “Chomper, sick balls!” But you know what? In my humble assistant opinion, the short story version was even more mind-blowing. (Different Seasons, Steven King)

We are the Millers – Well, buckle up because this movie is a wild ride! It’s all about a regular ol’ pot dealer who gets his brilliant idea to recruit his neighbors and create a fake family. Why? To smuggle drugs from Mexico into the good old US of A. And hey, I just love Jennifer Aniston – she brings some serious star power to this hilarious and “slightly” illegal adventure.

The Great Outdoors – Starring the legendary duo John Candy and Dan Aykroyd, this film is a hilarious adventure of two families on a vacation at a lake resort in the fictional town of Pechoggin, Wisconsin. It’s so convincing that I wish it was a real place too! I’d pack my bags and head there in an instant if I could. Sadly, we’ll just have to settle for laughing along with these comedic geniuses from the comfort of our own homes.

Blair Witch Project – Okay, folks, let me spill the beans on this one. I strongly advise against watching it right before you embark on a camping trip (take it from me, the voice of experience). This “found footage” flick has gathered quite the cult-like fan base. Brace yourself for some sleepless nights in your tent!

Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure – Get ready for some seriously obnoxious and immature humor! When Peewee’s beloved bike gets swiped, he sets off on a wild journey to the Alamo. It’s so crazy that it’s actually hilarious. Oh, and in case you were wondering, spoiler alert: there’s definitely no basement in the Alamo. Who knew history could be this wacky?

National Lampoon’s Vacation – Join the adventure of Clark Griswold and his ever-supportive wife Ellen as they embark on a family road trip with their teens. From the peaceful suburbs of Chicago to the land of sunshine, California’s Walley World amusement park, it’s a journey filled with excitement… and everything that could possibly go wrong! Buckle up for a rollercoaster ride of mishaps and comedy!

A Goofy Movie – This flick is all about Goofy and his son, Max, and their epic adventure. Get ready for a wild ride as Goofy tries to connect with his son by dragging him on a fishing trip across the country. Will they bond or end up in some hilarious mishaps? Find out in this lovable tale of father-son shenanigans!

RV – Oh, poor Bob! He’s in quite the pickle, isn’t he? Promising his family a tropical getaway while being cornered into a business meeting by his boss. Talk about bad timing! Bob decides to keep his family in the dark about the whole thing and rents a RV and convinces his crew that embarking on a road trip to the majestic Colorado Rocky Mountains is just the thing they need to restore some good ol’ family values. Will this wild adventure bring them closer together or unravel their already tangled relationships? Only time (and possibly some questionable decision-making) will tell!

Up – As a boy, Carl wanted to explore South America and find the forbidden Paradise Falls. About 64 years later he starts his journey with the help of a trusty Boy Scout and a whole bunch of balloons. As they float along, they meet all sorts of interesting characters, including a dog who can talk! But here’s the twist: our hero soon discovers that his childhood idol has turned to the dark side.
