Lupines are so beautiful but, man, that flowering window is short! We had to go when we went for our adventure, even though the weather wasn’t ideal – I thought if we waited till ‘next weekend’ it might be too late to enjoy the show!

If you’re looking for the best time of year to see lupines in Sugar Hill, NH, then the answer is simple: June. That’s when these beautiful purple flowers start to bloom and cover the hillside in a magical carpet of color. Use the map as a starting point, and keep your eyes peeled. You never know when you are going to turn the corner and discover a field of pinks and purples.

We based out adventures out of North Conway. From there, we did a big loop; exploring along the way. Total driving time was just short of three hours but this can easily be a whole day of exploring!

Start your journey from North Conway thru the White Mountains. Follow Route 302 to Sugar Hill. Enjoy the picturesque views of Mount Washington and all the breathtaking waterfalls along the way. Sweeten up your trip with lots of stops at cozy rest stops en route- no need to rush, just take as much time as you want!

Returning from our trip, we decided to take the Kancamagus Highway – about as scenic of a road as you can get! There’s plenty of things to see along the way from stunning views to easily-accessible waterfalls.

All and all, the trip was a success! The weather smiled upon us for most of it. We had to brave the fog on our way home on the Kancamagus Highway, but guess what – we’ll just have to come back in autumn and explore it some more!
